6 Ways To Take Care Of Your Physical Health During COVID-19

Your physical health is an important part of taking care of yourself. It is often times our easiest thing to neglect. We are busy and the first thing to go is taking time to focus on our physical health. Here are 6 ways to take care of your physical health:
  1. Keep a consistent sleep schedule for you and your family. This will help you to have the best mental clarity and physical energy to keep you going throughout the day.
  2. Instead of buying convenience foods that can be loaded with unhealthy additives and empty calories, take this time to be aware of what you are putting in your body! Opt for healthier, nutrient-rich snacks like hummus with veggies or baked chips, apples with nut butter, protein smoothies, or berries and trail mix. If you want to go a little further, keep a food diary to track what you eat and how you feel after you eat to get an idea of how different foods affect your body.
  3. Exercise frequently! Exercising releases endorphins, which are chemicals in your brain that give you a positive feeling in your brain and body. There are plenty of at-home bodyweight exercise programs available for purchase, or you can go on YouTube and find different exercises to do. Get your kids involved to get some energy out and to learn how they can take care of their health too!
  4. Ward off disease and boost your immune system with natural remedies like essential oils, dairy-free probiotics, elderberry syrup, homeopathic, and more.
  5. Take a bath, put on some moisturizer, do your hair and makeup, make yourself feel great! Be aware of what you are putting ON your body, and opt for products with safer ingredients.
  6. Limit your time sitting! With many of us working from home and trying to cram as much into a short time, it is easy to remain seated for hours. The result is stiff muscles, headaches and generally feeling not so good. Use a standing desk, schedule wiggle breaks, add yoga or stretching to your daily routine or do all three of these things. Taking care of your physical health will have a positive effect on your mental health, and vice versa. They go hand-in-hand, so be sure to exercise the muscle of discipline to keep yourself healthy, and remember that this, too, shall pass.
